Loc Retwist & Loc Styling in Decatur, GA

Regular retwists keep your locs tidy at the roots and support even maturation, but the key is healthy tension. Our loctician Jennifer retwists with consistent, gentle pressure — never over-tightening, which causes thinning and breakage at the root. Then we style your locs your way, from a basic barrel or bun to deluxe styling with two-strand twists, plaits, ropes, loc curls, and petals. We also offer a retwist with a hydration treatment special to keep locs soft and healthy between visits.

Who it's for

Clients with established locs who need routine maintenance and styling — from a tidy retwist to intricate loc'd styles. Essential for healthy locs at every stage: starter, teen, and mature.

What's included

  • Scalp assessment and cleanse
  • Retwist using your preferred or recommended method with healthy tension
  • Your choice of styling after the retwist
  • Optional hydration treatment (retwist & style special)
  • Scalp care and moisture guidance
  • Retwist schedule recommendation

How long it lasts

A retwist keeps roots tidy for 4 to 8 weeks depending on your growth rate and loc stage. Styled locs last from a few days for intricate updos to a week or more for simpler styles. Mature locs often need less frequent retwists; starter and teen locs need more regular maintenance.

The process, step by step

  1. 1

    Assess & cleanse

We check your scalp and loc health, then cleanse with a residue-free shampoo.

  2. 2

    Section & retwist

We retwist new growth with your method — palm rolling, interlocking, or latch hook — using gentle, even tension.

  3. 3

    Root care

We avoid over-tightening to prevent thinning, focusing on healthy, secure roots.

  4. 4

    Style

We style your retwisted locs — from a basic barrel, bun, or ponytail to deluxe two-strand twists, plaits, ropes, loc curls, or petals.

  5. 5

    Plan

We recommend your next retwist window based on your growth and loc stage.

How to prepare

  • Note any thinning, itching, or scalp concerns to discuss.
  • Bring reference photos of retwist or loc styles you like.
  • Remove beads or clips beforehand if possible.
  • Allow time — thorough retwists and styling can't be rushed.

Aftercare

  • Keep retwisted roots dry for 24–48 hours to let them set.
  • Moisturize your scalp with a light, residue-free oil as needed.
  • Sleep in a satin or silk cap to preserve your style and reduce frizz.
  • Avoid re-twisting at home between appointments to prevent thinning.

Loc Retwist & Loc Styling FAQs

What's the difference between basic and deluxe loc styling?
Loc Retwist is $85 (1 hr). Loc Retwist + Basic Style is $105 (1 hr 30 min) and includes 2–6 braids or barrels, simple buns, loc ponytails, or updos. Retwist + Deluxe Styling is $125 (2 hrs) and includes two-strand twists, plaits, ropes, detailed buns or updos, loc curls, and petals. The Loc Retwist & Style with Hydration Treatment special is $110.
How often should I retwist my locs?
Every 4–8 weeks for most locs. Your stage and growth rate decide it — we'll set your ideal schedule. See our blog on retwist frequency for details.
Can retwisting damage my locs?
Only if over-tightened or done too often. We use gentle, consistent tension and space retwists for healthy roots, preventing the thinning that bad retwists cause.
What method do you use — palm roll or interlock?
We use the method best for your locs and lifestyle. Interlocking suits active lifestyles and finer locs; palm rolling is great for most textures. We'll recommend at your visit.
My locs are thinning at the root — can you help?
Yes. We assess the cause and adjust tension, schedule, and care. For significant thinning we offer loc repair and can combine locs to reinforce them.
